A GARDEN TOUR NOT TO BE MISSED
Monday, April 18, 2011, the Leesburg Garden Club and the
Fauquier Loudoun Garden Club will jointly host an
extraordinary garden tour of the historic, rural village of
Mt. Gilead, south of Leesburg as part of Historic Garden
Week in Virginia’s 78th Anniversary season. It is the oldest
and largest garden tour event in our nation.

Other gardens in the state will be open to the public. One of the featured gardens on this tour is a spectacular
garden at “Samarate” designed and created by Plant-A-Plant
Company of Aldie, Virginia. You take a walk back in time as
you view this authentic replica of historic Virginia gardens
in the 18th century. The seven-foot brick enclosure
surrounds a 12,000 square foot area reminiscent of the
walled gardens at Mount Vernon. Stepped terraces softened
by tailored, lush plantings lead through charming gardens
and expansive lawns as a prelude to the elaborate gardens
within the walls. It is a true gem to be added to your
garden tour adventure.
The garden at “Samarate” will be open to the public only
during this event.
